Myth: You Have To Apply A Moisturiser Before Using A Spray Tan

Fact: You do not need to put on lotion before you use a spray tan. In fact, the moisturiser will create a barrier between the spray tan and your skin. However, you want to make sure that you wash your skin and exfoliate it before you apply the spray tanner.

Myth: Your Spray Tan Will Protect You From The Sun

Fact: You will need to always wear a sunscreen before you go out in the sun. Your spray tanner will not provide you with any protection from the sun. That is why they should never be considered a form of sun protection. If you do not wear sunscreen, then you still put yourself at risk for developing a sunburn. In addition to wearing sunscreen, you should cover up when you are in direct sunlight.

Myth: Your Spray Tan Will Make You Turn Orange

Fact: Many people are reluctant to use a spray tan because they think that they will end up looking like a carrot. However, if you choose the spray tan that is right for your skin, then you will not have to worry about looking like a carrot. The right spray tan will give you a natural-looking tan.

Myth: You Can Apply Any Type Of Moisturiser To Keep Your Tan Looking Fresh

Fact: It is true that keeping your skin moisturised is one of the keys to keeping your tan looking fresh. However, it is important to note that all moisturisers and tanners are not created equal. In fact, some moisturisers will actually get rid of your tan instead of helping it last.

That is why it is important for you to select moisturisers that have mineral oils or petroleum. You should also select moisturisers that have specifically designed for people who have spray-tanned skin.
